Max Nathanson is a DPhil candidate in economic geography at the Smith School of Enterprise and Environment. His research explores the climate-security nexus within US foreign policy, focusing on the tradeoffs associated with industrial policy and urbanization for economic development and climate resilience in Central America. He is also the founder and CEO of the Oxford Urbanists, a global social enterprise. Prior to the DPhil he worked for Colorado Governor Jared Polis and on Capitol Hill. Max holds an MPhil in international development from Oxford and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Colorado, where he was a Norlin Scholar. He enjoys traveling and the outdoors, playing for the Oxford University Basketball Club, and supporting community development in his hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Max is a member of St. Antony's College and is a Rotary Global Scholar.
