Samantha Bennett

Sammi is a second-year MPhil student in Development Studies at the Oxford Department of International Development. She studies as a Rotary Global Scholar at Green Templeton College. Sammi is from Phoenix, Arizona, and studied Environmental Studies and Psychology at Santa Clara University in California. Her favourite research experience was the year she spent in Bangalore, India as a Fulbright Scholar studying alongside women energy entrepreneurs. Sammi is fascinated by human-nature relations and is currently studying alternatives to development, specifically the mobilization of "Buen Vivir" or “Good Living” in the Peruvian Andes, as a platform to further the biocultural rights of Indigenous peoples. In Oxford, Sammi sings at Brasenose College Chapel Choir and participates in Lindy Hop and tap dance. You can often find her strolling or dancing among the buttercups in Port Meadow.
