Varun Shankar

Varun Shankar is pursuing a DPhil in Engineering Science as a Rhodes Scholar and Pembroke College member. His research is focused on quantifying the impact of renewable (bio-) fuels on unregulated toxic emissions. Previously, he completed an Undergraduate and Master’s in Mechanical with Automotive Engineering at the University of Bath. He has experience working in both the public and private sectors and is passionate about enabling the transition to a decarbonised economy in developing countries. Particularly, he recognises the role transport plays in fostering inclusive growth and expanding access to essential services and wants to explore ways in which this can be achieved sustainably. He also values working in interdisciplinary teams on sustainability projects and was a fellow of the SDG Impact Lab.
