From 28 to 29 November 2024, the Universidad Anáhuac de Querétaro hosted the second edition of the Anáhuac International Leadership Congress (CIL 2024), bringing together scholars, educators, and students to explore advancements in leadership education. A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. Edward Brooks, Executive Director of the Oxford Character Project.
Dr. Brooks' address centered on the integration of character development within leadership education. He emphasised that virtues are foundational to effective leadership. Drawing from his research, Dr. Brooks discussed strategies for cultivating these virtues in academic settings, highlighting their impact on personal growth and organisational culture.
The Congress featured four thematic lines: leadership and management of educational institutions, leadership education in digital environments, leadership education for university students, and teaching methodologies in positive action leadership. Dr. Brooks' insights resonated across these themes, particularly in aligning character formation with leadership practices in educational contexts.
Participants engaged in discussions on integrating character education into curricula and co-curricular activities, reflecting on the perspectives of Dr. Brooks. The Congress underscored the importance of virtue-based leadership in addressing contemporary challenges in education and beyond.
